7th S.E. Europe Energy Dialogue Programme Announced

The Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE) has announced the detailed programme of the “7th S.E. Europe Energy Dialogue”, which will be held in Thessaloniki at the MET Hotel on June 19 – 20, 2013. As in past years, IENE’s annual Energy Dialogue conference is being organized in association with the World Energy Council (WEC). This year, the Energy Dialogue will focus on «The New Regional Parameters» vis-a´-vis the latest developments of the evolving natural gas and electricity markets of the region, as well as the ever deepening energy partnerships of on S.E. European countries with the Caspian Sea, the East Mediterranean, the Middle East and North Africa

At the European Council meeting being held today, May 22, 2013,Heads of States and governments underlined the importance of having a predictable climate and energy policy framework post-2020 and of phasing-out fossil fuel subsidies. "The Heads of States recognise the much needed benefits of a 2030 energy framework. European Parliament Calls for 2030 Binding Renewable Energy Target

The European Parliament adopted today in plenary the Reul Report, which calls on the European Commission to propose a binding European renewable energy target by 2030. "This vote confirms the European Parliament’s commitment to basing Europe’s future on renewable energy and sends a very strong message to both the European Commission, currently consulting on a 2030 framework for energy and climate policies, and to Member States", said Hinrichs-Rahlwes, President at European Renewable Energy Council (EREC)

Bulgaria's gas monopoly Bulgargaz said it plans not to seek a change in the price of natural gas that local consumers will pay in the third quarter of the year. The projected price of natural gas for the third quarter of the year is unchanged at 630.94 levs ($420/323 euro) per 1,000 cubic metres, value added tax excluded, the company said in a statement published on its website
