Croatia Plans Tender for Onshore Oil, Gas Exploration in H2 2014
Posted: Thursday, November 28, 2013
The
Croatian government plans to call an international
tender for onshore oil and gas exploration in the
second half of 2014, local media reported on
Wednesday, quoting economy minister Ivan Vrdoljak.
The planned concession for onshore oil and gas
exploration along with the offshore one should
make Croatia a net exporter of gas in a couple of
years, state-run broadcaster HRT reported, quoting
Vrdoljak.
On Monday, Zagreb-based media reported that
Croatia is in the process of signing an annex to
its offshore seismic survey deal with Norway's
Spectrum to include in its scope mapping of the
Adriatic country's mainland.
In September, Vrdoljak said that Croatia plans to
launch international tenders for oil and gas
exploration in its part of the Adriatic Sea in the
second quarter of 2014 and to award the first
concessions in 2015.
Croatia's domestic production covers 65% of the
country's gas needs and 20% of its oil
consumption, Vrdoljak said at the time.
A total of 26.6 billion kilowatt-hours of gas were
delivered to the Adriatic country's market in
2012.
